I play call of duty quite a lot...but now that I have a lodger (roommate), he takes up all the bandwidth!! So now I get HIGH ping when I connect to servers...and I'm talking about 400-999 ping!! My only option was to make my own server. I've made one that my friends can join...after a little research on how to make one. Anyway, my friends can't connect to it as it says "connection awaiting...#". Does anyone know why this is so?

Do you create your own server and leave the COD console window open? That Console Window needs to be open .

How do I do that? When I load up Call of Duty it just loads like any other day, I don't see any console window. It just loads the map that I chose but when I ask my friend to join through Xfire, it doesn't work. Do I have to give him my IP?

You need to set the server to "Dedicated ,Internet" then it should show up on the servers list . You then connect to your server from the server list ..And just give your bud's the server's name .. ex. france 100 COD Server .If you did it right it should look like this picture : http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b206/pittfan/codserver.jpg .. leave that console window open !, then launch COD multiplayer again and choose " join a server " you should see your server . And Yeah give your friend the IP to the server if the server does'nt show up .

How do I set it to "dedicated, internet" and how do I open the console window? Do I just click on the "Call of Duty Multiplayer.exe" file? Can you give me a step-by-step instruction guide?

    Thankz

Ok,look at this picture :http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b206/pittfan/cod1.jpg That is first thing you need to click to start running a server . The 2nd picture Seen Here: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b206/pittfan/server.jpg Is what you need to put in to run a Dedicated server , You can see I named My Server ( Pittsburgh Rulz )And I put the Dedicated setting to (Internet) Now just Hit (Start) at the botton of the window .. It will Open the Console window seen Here: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b206/pittfan/codserver.jpg Leave that console Window open~~!!! . Now run the CODMP.exe again and Click "Join a Server " You'll see your server under "Local" Picture Here: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b206/pittfan/cod3.jpg , Your Buddy's will see your Server under Internet if they search for it. Or just give them the IP ...........P.S......You use CODMP.exe to access everything seen in the Pictures , Hope that Helps

I have done everything you have said. It comes up with the console screen and everything. I can play... but my friends cannot connect to it. It says "Server is not responding to information query" and some of my friends say it keeps increasing "Awaiting connection...#" so can you please give me more info.
