I agree that when graphics leaps start to get so low that you don't notice, then they should just focus on gameplay, but please...Gamecube graphics are not where we should stop at, hell as good as PS3 graphics are, we still have not gotten to Cars(Pixar Movie) Graphics in-game. No, we still have a lot farther to go before we stop trying to make games prettier.

 

i happen to find it extremely ironic that people were up and arms about sony and the expected ps3 game prices back when kaz made the general statement regarding game prices leading to much speculation. however it is actually the 360 that will feature a game for $99.99. just announced halo 3 legendary edition, oooohh but it comes with a helmet......which you can't wear.

i should add the pricing still isn't official and could change. so maybe the generalization back when wasn't so far out in left field afterall, but i know i know you get a cartoon book, helmet, dvd documentary etc....it'll be interesting to see how sales for each edition fair and if the 100$ pricetag is reasonable. i think its a bit crazy

yeah, i guess thats true. the graphics are really nice, and the games look gorgeous.

 

Gears of War is gonna be superb. If you don't want this game you're a fanboy IMHO.

yeah dude...not just the graphics, the movement of the characters are soo realistic, pretty much equivelant to real life acting. its really well done. the gameplay where you move from cover to cover looks really cool and realistic. thats what people appreciate, i think. you know, like how its realistic, yet its still creative, imaginative, and most of all enjoyable.

 

The only weak point that has been pointed out is the length of the story mode, and it's just as long as you're average FPS at 10 hours (on casual), and takes obviously longes on hardcore/insan, so it's a pretty strong weak point!

 

its not just gears of war that is like that, its the entire unreal engine. i've adored it since ue2 and it is the most suberb one i know. mix it with some aspects from the source engine and your could have the best damn product. but the game doesnt look too good. the carachters dont appeal, they are kind of grotesqe. maybe the storyline is better? oh well, i dont own a 360 and i know no one who wants one. its all wii or ps3 here.

All I have too say is that I will have best of both worlds because of games and graphics, better graphic and awesome games(especially with hdtv 1080p) = ps3 and the only reason I would get 360 would be gears of war and halo 3 that's my opinion and want I think would be worth buying. As for the Wii, I know the goal is to reach all ages and think that that is bogis it will be for more teenagers than anything, because of the motion controller ppl will get tried of this whole thing and I was going to buy one for my 5 yr old which is good on all previous systems but not good with motion scence games. I had gotten him a LOTR motions games( one of the cheap motion games with the swords) and really got frustraded and pissed off because it had to be a done right, so I have having second thoughts about the whole wii thing even though I think is great and very interactive but don't think peewee gamers won't be please at least for the perants by sitting next to him and show him the ropes of the system or have the patience to do that( at least not me) while he can play games on the ps3 or 360 because he already knows the controllers. I just think nintendo really f'ed up on this with kids being able to play this but who know he has to try it out and I will have to test him out on this before making a purchase of the Wii, but he has been asking for Santa to bring him a 360(what a brat huh lol) I wish at that age my folks had the money to get me all the cool stuff, well aleast I'm am gald I can give him what wasn't givin to me. Just thought I would give my 2 cents.

Yeh, UE3 really is amazing. It's not the graphics I like (although they are the best seen YET on a console), it's the gameplay/story/cinematic experience/online gameplay that has me interested. I don't know where you're from, but where I'm from everyone wants to chainsaw and curbstomp!

What is grotesque about the characters? Do you mean the enemy?
The COG look to me like Space Marines, which is cool.

Well, I think and hope Gears will be a Halo killer because I hate Halo!!

the guys you play as are the ugliest things imaginable to still be called human. thats what i was saying. they are as ugly has the marines in warhammer 40k but rts's dont matter. the unreal engine could always have better graphics than any other engine i know and still hae good framerates. unreal 2:the awakening looks like a god for its time. people gave that game shit but i enjoyed it alot because i tuned out half of what i know of the unreal universe.

and i dont like some of halo. the 1st one blows hard a$$, and the 2nd one was alright. i hope the third gives us more unique things to do and less repitition that all halo's before it. i think of all the halo games i'll enjoy halo wars the most.

what re you killing? is this just another "kill all" kind of game microsoft loves? (i.e. quake 4, dead rising) i want some nice storyline and creativity. does it have that? i like to immerse myself into their world so to say, and when characters that dont make a connection to me and the world is nothing but slaughter, i cant enjoy it more than 1 play through in most occations. it has to appeal for some other reason. all that is why i like most ff games, all half life's, sw:kotor 1 and 2, the timesplitters series, xenosaga ep.1, and many others like them.

 

Yeah, many reviews have stated that it has the best cinematic i0mmersiveness seen in a video game to date. Epic has took this in a completely different direction fromm it's UT series.

 

cinematic immersion? ff9 did that nice. that reminds me how much dislike with ff12 i have right now, soooooo many cutscenes omg. the only controller time you get is for leveling up or running to a place to initiate another cutscene..

but what are you killing? whats the point? the videos i saw were mindless alien slaughter with big oversized brutes on steroids.

Woah there anubis, I usually have been agreeing with you, but Halo 2 is the one that sucks ass. Halo 1 is better than Halo 2 in every way possible.
