Back again! Also considering these now, they're a few more dollars but I'm thinking it will be worth it in the long run, if they are better speakers. The warranty is 10 years which I also think is a bonus. Any opinions on their products?

I will take a look at them DarkJello...in fact, I'm in a hurry to! Cambridge soundworks put out one of the very first "satellite" speaker systems called the "Ensemble" ... I bought a pair in 1990 before home theater really came into play. The speakers were about 6" high and 3" wide with these huge passive subs (one for each channel) that put under the sofas, chairs, or stack and put a plant on LOL! Those things were awesome and they're still working fine ... thing was, they couldn't handle the power of new receivers but as I said, that was like 1990.

I've been looking for more independent reviews and will continue to look at my favorite sites but everything I read is really good. The tweeter and midrange seem to get great reviews in everything I read; the bass reviews are good in that the bass is a solid, firm sound and not "mushy" but the bass won't reproduce the bottom octave and a half but the infinities wouldn't either...no bookshelf can because of speaker size and size of resonance chamber. Here is one from epinions (scroll down the page a bit) but I'll continue looking but sure sounds great so far ... even better when you get the sub some months down the road. Will keep looking.

Hi DarkJello: I thought I'd point out another alternative which is recommended by my favorite review site and by my favorite reviewer (Clint DeBoer): the receiver is, more or less, in the class of your's and the fronts alone are in the price range you were looking at. I'm sure you can read a full review on the speakers and why they choose them ... take a peek:

Yea I stumbled across that, I have a reciever already. I believe it's a step down from the one there. Those would be a pretty good choice I believe as well. Might even look a bit nicer as well. Decisions like this are impossible. Anyway thanks for all your help Gerry. I think I'm going to stick inbetween the Cambridge and the Axiom's.

@darkjello....frankly, I don't think you can go wrong either way; they are very similar regarding the specs but probably sound quite different; equally good, but different. I neglected to look at the price of the corresponding equipment to see which is the better deal. Part of me favors the Cambridge simply because I had a pair ages ago which were really nice while another part favors the Axioms by virtue of who tested and recommended them. You're right it is rough. Have you sampled any in audio stores?

No, I'm on vacation for the next week [ie no school] so I'll probably get a chance to get out to a store or two. I think I'm leaning towards the Auxioms though. They're a little bit cheaper and look nicer, but only the sounds will really tell. Thanks for the help.

@Darkjello....just thought I'd let you know that there are some pretty good speaker deals at a Crutchfield sale.
