I have a new computer and it has a ASUE M2n-MX SE PLUS motherboard. how do i hook up my Panasonic camcoder to it? It does not have a fire wire connection in the back. Can i use a conection from my cancorder to a usb port instead of the firewire if i get the right plug ends? I ane trying to get my vidios to Penical 10. any suggestions?

Did the board come with fire wire on a metal bracket, I know my last board did. Check your manual to see if the board can take fire wire. Does your camcorder have USB?

    Once again....
    Firewire for Video

    USB for SDcard pictures.

I think there are Firewire to USB adapters, but it might be cheaper to get a card reader.

    My Sony HDR-SR1 is USB.

@ PFloyd Never have I heard USB is only for Pictures. All newer camcorders are only USB.

Not all of them are USB, only.

And, the video camcorders, that PFloyd is talking about are miniDV tape camcorders, and the USB connection IS for pictures only. The firewire is for capturing video.

The USB camcorders that you are talking about are hard drive camcorders, and you copy the files directly from the camcorder, to your hard drive. You don't capture them, like you do with miniDV tapes.

There are other camcorders that capture to a memory stick, also.

Yes, I know. I was addressing chubbyInc's post.

You are correct on issue31 needing to capture via firewire, which means a firewire card is needed in the computer, along with a firewire cable.

    I knew what he had.

I was just expressing that USB is not just for SDcard pictures as stated by PFloyd.

Glad everything is working for ya Issue31
