Hi I am completely new to DVD, I understand english but cannot understand some of the articles that are on the Newbie boards. I want to take video off my camcorder and of vhs tape and burn on to dvd that can be played on a stand alone dvd player. I have read messages to download this or that program, But where from?? I have a Pioneer DVD R/RW, an ATI Radeon 7500 graphics card and have been able to play my videos on the PC. Can someone please run me through what I need to do with these videos in straight forward simple english without the abbreviations. Thanks PS I have the latest version of VOB software also.

I am currently doing the samething with my movies. Software can not be shared in this forum nor can we tell you where to get. Almost all software in the USA is available on-line.
I used Pinnacle Studio 7. My videocamera came with ULEAD but it is too simple. Pinnacle can be bought at most retail store and is a little more enjoyable to use that ULEAD's software.
Studio 7 will take the DV from your camera and convert it to AVI on the hard drive, so space is important. Then when you finish editing, you can convert it to MPEG2 (dvd specifications). Burn to your DVD-r and play on MOST standalones players.
No one will give youo straight forward simple english without abbreviations because it all depends on your camera, dvd software program, and burner.
Simplest thing to do is read up on different editing software, purchase it, and start USING it. This is still the bet way to learn
