can burn a home movie

    can burn a home movie from a dv to a DVD without buying any software? i have a sony dru500 burner, nero, and pinnacle instant copy.

    No.

    You'll need capturing/editing software and an encoder. (Sometimes the encoder is built-in to the capturing/editing software.)
