Hello all, I have kind of read through the whole DVD+RW Alliance. I think I have read something like the DVD+RW can burn DVD+R or DVD+RW discs. Is that true. I have a Dell 8200's DVD+RW/CD-RW combo drive. Can I burn using both right now? Thanks.

(DVD+R discs can be recorded by any DVD+RW PC drive or video recorder, except for the first generation of DVD+RW PC drives (manufactured before April 2002)

    I found this at

    http://www.dvdplusrw.org/faq/dvdplusrwfaq01.html

So, can someone please tell me that my Dell 8200 DVD+RW/CD-RW combo can use DVD+R format discs.

O.K as far as I understand there are 5 formats DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW & DVD RAM. I am not sure that the early models of burners were even compatible with once & re-write versions of discs. I.E, you needed a single burner for each format! In order to answer your question You need to know how old is your burner. Can't you just get a sample disc +R & +RW & give it a whirl? I like to give anything a go, this is more out of curiosity than anything else!
