CAN I BURN A DVD ON THIS OLD PC?

    hello! i got a friend who has pc and he ask me if he install a dvd burner it will work properly because he dont know the minimum syst req for dvd-r/rw.

    system sepcs:

    shutle barebone pc:
    amd duron 1.6ghz fsb 200 264 kb l2 cache
    512 ddr pc-2100 (266mhz)
    sis vga 306 64mb agp 4x
    western digital 40gb 5200 rpm ide

    Should be OK, as long as there is enoguh room on the hard drive >18Gb.

    Maybe a little slow at number crunching, but should cope with it............

    so that means i should burn at speeds below 16x?

    @Dr.xp - you're welcome, how's it going; saw a couple replies on the overclocking amd 2800 athlon xp' thread over the last couple o' days, the thread's still hanging in there. I daren't start looking any further in the PC-related forums, i'll never come up for air or go to work. I'm trying to restrict myself to the DVD burning areas for now :)

    dvd-r/rw is cool stuff!! but if you planning to go back to pc forum or tweak some syst jejeje youre welcome !!!

    yup, whenever i see the initials ddp, i instantly think of 'teach and learn' now, regardless of what he says!.
