Hi I have about 60 mini DV tapes that I want to burn onto a DVD (1 dvd with no.1 on it, and another dvd with no.1 and no.2 ) then a disc with no.3 and another disc with 3 and 4 and so on. I don't want to caputer to hard drive because if the tape drops a frame i have to start all over, so i'd like to burn direct somehow with the need to capture. There is one other little problem ( sorry ) I'm using PAL equiptment and want to burn NTSC. I tried Ulead dvd factory 2 all was going fine until i connected my Pal dv camera and then ulead auto selected PAL and greyed out NTSC any idea's ? thanks
If you purchase a standalone dvd recorder, plug the cam into it. Not sure if it will do the ntsc - > Pal thing though. Try capturing with WinDV.
If you Make sure you Capture to a Seperate Hard Drive than your OS and Software are Installed on and Use a Good DV Capture program Like "Scenalyzer Live" then you should not have any Dropped Frames and even if you have one or two here and there it shouldn"t cause a Problem as Long as there aren"t more than say 10 frames dropped per Hour but you shouldn"t have Dropped Frames because you only need something like 14mb per second of Disk Bandwidth which even the Slowest Drives should be able to write.... You could also use a software Mpeg Capture program to capture the Video from your CamCorder directly to Mpeg-2 which you can author directly to DVD with a DVD authoring Program but the Quality won"t be nearly as good useing this Method... Also if you capture to DV AVI and use a Good Quality Mpeg encoder you should not have any problems Fitting 2 of those 60 minute Tapes on a Single DVD with probably better quality than if you used the Faster Method but putting One 60min Tape on a DVD.... If you want to Put Pal Material on DVD in NTSC Format then you will have absolutly no Choice but to Capture to DV and then encode the DV Files to NTSC useing a Good Mpeg encoder because there is No way that I know of to capture Pal Material in NTSC Format.... The Best encoder for doing Pal/NTSC Conversions especially with DV AVI Files is "Canopus Procoder/Express" as Most all other Encoders will leave some sort of Artifacts Caused from a Bad Pal/NTSC Conversion.... These artifacts Can be a stuttering Playback or Sync problems or Field Order problems ect.... Cheers
