can I burn dvd's

    by the way,Ijust signed up on this site and would like to say hello and thanks for having me! I'm a computer newbie and my question is-I have a dell inspiron 1150 laptop with a samsung CDRW/DVD SN-324S, CAN I BURN DVD'S? If not what hardware do I need?

    Not with that drive you can't, you can only burn CD and watch DVD's...no burning of DVD's I'm afraid. You will need a DVD-RW drive.

    There are lots of USB 2.0 and/or firewire drives on the market. A BenQ EW164B or Lite-On SOHW-1693SX are probably the better USB 2.0 drives according to the specs.
