    Hi Everyone.
I would like to connect to my PC at work and be able to copy files to my home PC for backup purposes.
Is this possible, would i need anything special?

Both machines are running XP, the PC at work is connected to the internet via a netgear router with is connected to a cable modem.

    Both machines run AVG.

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

    Regards.

Yes it is possible. First, check with your boss to see if it's allowed. After that, and if he approves, you need to check with your I.T. staff. Otherwise, I would suggest a flash drive, as they are fairly inexpensive.

Sorry, i should have been clearer.
Its my business, so i'm the boss and yes i'm the "IT guy".

Up to now i have just used a flash drive, but after finding this forum when looking for a virus problem i wondered if someone could guide me through it, if its possible.

It would make life a little easier and there is always the time when i want something from work and it would be easy to connect and download.

    Regards,

Yes I can help but im no genuis :p. hamachi is your best bet. Its a bit of a pain in the ass to setup but once you get it up and running all you do is connect and transfer files from one computer to another.

I would also like to suggest setting up a FTP server. If you do not know what that is it stands for File Transfer Protacol, and when set up you will be able to snatch files from both computers or only one computer.

Here is How to set up an ftp server!
