Can I Fool XP Into Thinking It's Got SP2 For the iPhone?

Hi guys! I'm running XP Pro SP1 and will be purchasing an iPhone soon. According to Apple, for the iPhone to successfully sync with my PC, I need to update to SP2. I really don't want to since I'm comfortable with SP1 and I don't like SP2. SP2 is known to slow things down. Is there a way to fool XP into thinking it's on SP2? Thanks!

Why not save yourself all the hassle and install XP Service Pack 3?

service pack 2 was supposed to slow windows down but now service pack 3 is available to counteract this plus add more features and fix many security holes and flaws etc

i agree, sp3. anyway IMO don't do the "auto update and install". search the net or maybe even microsoft websight for a SP3 .iso. then load it that way. I have a super fast 33mbps up/down internet service and the "auto update and install" within windows failes on three of my computers. well, not failed entirely just took way too long and cancelled it. then found the .iso, burned with image burn, and now I update all my personal and customers puters with that. goodluck
