Can I get 1080p through VGA inputs on an LCD TV?

I recently got a Toshiba Regza 1080p 42 inch LCD. I connected my XBOX 360 with component cables and couldn't get a 1080p signal. I was then told that some TVs dont do 1080p through component inputs. I have no HD Cable box yet and no HD DVD or BLU-RAY player to test out the 1080p with. If I buy the VGA cable for the XBOX 360 (which supports 1080p), what are the chances my TV will do 1080p through its VGA input? I have read the manuals from cover to cover and scoured the net without finding my answer. Thanks in advance dudes.

I have the same TV, and the same problem. I also have a OPPO dvd player that's supposed to put out a 1080P signal, but the TV won't accept it even with an HDMI connection. It would be nice to know why the TV won't display an 1080P signal. I'm curious if a 1080P signal would even be noticeable compared to a 1080I.
