Can i make svcd with a standard cd-rewriter...?

    Can someone please tell me if i can make a svcd with a standard cd-rewriter, because i dont know dat if can burn onto dvd-r dics with cd-rewriter?

    Yes you can. Try out the software called as Nero. SVCD is similar to a VCD but it uses MPEG 2 format instead of MPEG format. Try it it should work fine

    yea, ive got nero, but my svcd files are about 2.0gb or even more, so i want to know dat can i write onto dvd-r dics with a cd-rewriter or do i NEED a dvd-writer?

    You need a DVD-writer to burn DVDs. If you have a CD-RW unit you can only burn CD-R.

    A movie in MPEG-1 format (VCD standard) has a such compression that you can store up to 74 min in a 650 MB CD-R. MPEG-2 (SVCD standard) occupies more space (from 10 to 20 MB/min depending upon video size and audio compression), so you can squeeze no more than 50-60 minutes on a standard CD-R.

    Therefore your movie will have to be split into two or three pieces to fit on multiple CD-R(using, for instance, TMPGEnc 'select range' filter)

    k, fanx for ure help everyone, do any of u know where i can get a fairly cheap dvd-writer from then?

    loaded, people in CD-R forum (where I surf usually) are much easier to deal with than people in, say, PS2 or DVD forum.

    Maybe I too would turn into a "shoot-and-kill" guy should I decide to 'moderate' those forums...
