I upgrade hdd's quite often for friends, and I have a collection of stock hdds. I DO NOT have the eeprom for these drives anymore. How can I reuse these hdds using xbhdm? I was hoping to use them to replace bad hdds in otherwise working boxes. Can I hook one up as slave in a PC, and format using xp? THEN, use xbhdm to prepare for another xbox? I just don't know how to use them without eeprom.
Unbelievable. I see the same questions asked by various people that can easily be found by a search - AND THEY GET ANSWERED. However, I pose a question that I cannot find an answer to on ANY board, and no one can give me an answer? Where's the love?
You might be able to, you have to have the eeprom from the box you want to put the hd in, and the hdd key of the origonal hard drive for the new xbox. If that doesnt make sense ill try to explain further.
I built an EEPROM reader, so I can get it from the box with no hdd. For ease of explanation, "A" - stock hdd from an upgrade, and xbox is no longer available to me. I kept the stock hdd, but no EEPROM. xbox "B" - good mobo, no hdd. Can I marry "A" & "B" into a working xbox? I can't figure out how to unlock "A", and even if I did, I couldn't lock it with xbhdm because of different eeprom on "B". I already know about modchips and how they can be configured to run with unlocked hdd, but I do not want to purchase a chip. I just want to know if I have a couple dozen paper weights or if they are usable. If they are no good, off to the recycler!
I dont believe you can, I think you need the hdd code from the old xbox for that specific drive. Im not 100 percent positive though.
go to http://www.hddunlock.com/ and download the program, it should be free to unlock 8-10gig drives. Then load xboxhdm and wipe the fat x file system Then you can use that drive for any computer you want. Edit: it's 5 dollars to unlock each drive Read this instead http://www.llamma.com/xbox/Unlocking Seagate Xbox Hard Drive.htm
