Hi just wondering if it's possible to use more than 2 Burners to copy the same file. I use Nero 7 right now and can use my 2 burners to copy the same img or dvd files just fine.

I was looking to get 2 more so a total of 4 drives it's prob is smart to have 4 of the same drive but prob won't happen.

    Current-
    Samsung WriteMaster SH-S203N http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16827151154

    Philips SPD2513P http://www.storageupdates.philips.com/files/dvdrw/leaflets/spd2513_leaflet_eng.pdf

I have 2 TDK burners in my old CPU that still work but they are IDE my current ones listed are Sata again prob is smart to use all Sata's.

Is Nero 7 the best for this someone mentioned this to me No sure if this is any good.
I have,Any DVD ,Clone DVD, DVD Fab and pretty much all the free stuff but I didn't see anywhere to select more than 1 drive like Nero.

    CPU -
    EVGA 680i SLI
    Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
4 GB DDR2 - (going to be upgrading to 8 GB in the next month)
2 Sata HDD and 2 external HDD.

I always write at the lowest speed I can which usually is 6x or 8x.

Can you recommend a new DVD burner to go with one's I have.
Also are these TY disc the best.

I'm only trying to do this since when I make a backup of my DVDs I need to make 4 and sometimes 5 copies of the same DVD for Dad,Brother,Sister, and Me.

    Thanks

I think the most burners i've had burning concurrently is 3, though i have potentially 8 burners hooked up to my main pc (i swear by Nero 6.6.0.18 for all concurrent burning btw, for single burns i usually just use imgburn) -

    1 internal IDE burner - LG 4167B
    2 internal SATA burners - LG GSA L66N i think they're called
5 Benq DW1650 IDE burners in USB 2.0 enclosures, though i rarely use them, they're really only hooked up as spares.

Basically i burn everything at 8x, whether i'm burning 8x or 16x discs, i mix and match -R and +R discs in concurrent burns (as Nero will happily just booktype the +R discs) and mix and match burns across any of the drives, whether internal or external. I've only done a couple or so burns above 8x, i just prefer to stick to 8x, force of habit.

4 concurrent burners will work just fine in Nero, i can't say i've heard of anyone do 5 though, as i say the most i've done is 3, never need to to more than that and i don't do 3 that often, i do 2 (and 3) concurrently regularly enough to know that 3 work fine, i've read of one or two of our regulars stating that 4 concurrent burns work fine.

Nero is the only program i know of that does concurrent burns, not sure if there are any others, but i'm 100% happy with Nero 6.6.0.18 for this type of burning.

Most of my discs were bulk bought long ago so i'm not completely up to date with the best discs, for the longest time i've used TY discs, Verbatim 16x (both -R and +R) and Maxell 16x +R (the Maxell code out as either RICOHJPNR03 and CMC MAG M01, i don't think the JPNR03 are made anymore, either way i have burnt thousands of both, am very happy with the M01).

My burners are also a few years old so i'm not completely up to date on the best burners out there, the best thing i think to do is have a read thru the last few pages of this thread ~ http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/540688 where all the regulars who are either blank media mad or dvd burner mad are to be found.

    Hi thanks for your help.

I will look for that Nero version you mentioned hopefully it's stable for Win 7.

8x is usually the fastest I write once in awhile I might just do 16x if my media can write it but for my stuff everything is 8x or lower.

I do use ImgBurn too for single burns I never had any trouble with Nero but I just started to really use ImgBurn more and more the last year.

I will be burning more 2 or 3 than I will 4 and 5 I'm not going even to try 5 I'll try to get 4 going and should be fine worst case if I need a 5th I can do a single burn.

I will check out that thread and see what else I can read up on in there.

My drives are older too but you no what they work great still.

Well I thought they were 2 TDK IDE but I just looked they are Memorex and still work great after 4yrs. One should have close to 500+ copies and the other close to 700+.

My other too are 2 yrs old and they both prob have a good 300+ each on them. So in the last 4yrs I haven't had a drive crap out on me. Pretty good.

    Thanks again...

    No problem, glad to help.
Your Nero 7 should be fine, quite a few of us regulars here use 6.6.0.18 (almost religiously!) but as far as i know 7.x and 8.x are also fine, probably best to avoid using the earliest releases of those, ie update them, if you have good results with 7.x no need to got back to 6.x.
Version 9.x i've only read bad things about and i can honestly say that i have yet to read anything good about it. I personally only use Burning Rom as i have no need for all the other fluff that Nero provides.

    Here's a list of all the stuff i'd tested under Win7 ~ http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/3/769480#4661854

though there's a thread or two here where some people can't get Nero running under Win7 for love nor money, in fact here's one recent link ~ http://forums.afterdawn.com/t.cfm/f-156/nero_6-will_it_work_in_windows_7-808986/

as a "MAD DVD BURNER GUY" that i am(lmao) creaky is right nero 6.6.0.18 is the best for useing multiple burners for the same .img.
ive been useing it now for the past 2 1/2 years without a flaw. and yes i do have 4 burners going at the same time. all 4 finsihing at the same time in roughly 6-8min's. i havent used nero 7 or 8 for multiple burners but if your useing it now and doing 2 at a time then all you have to do is select 2 more and let it fly. nothing more to add to what creaky has stated. he has hit every aspect in his reply. now as for the burners to have.. now we can get into this..lol most burners out now are built pretty much the same some are better than other but not by much. alot is personaly preference. ive used nothing but liteons for the first 2 years i got into burning, but in the last 6-8 months i have only 1 liteon in my tower and 3 sony nec/optaric drive. which one is a rebadged liteon. goto that link that creaky posted above, as he said there is alot of good people there with MAD knowledge of drives nad media. you can and will learn alot. and dont feel like you cant add to the info cause im sure you like everyone else does something a little differnt in the way you burn and im sure we would like to try new things ourselves...

oh yea welcome to AD im sure you will like it here. there is a ton of info on these forum walls to be had.
