Hi I am building a new PC for my son. I have built a few in the past all of them have had PC800 RAM.

I have aquired 3GB of PC2-5300 DDR2-667/533/400 RAM By Centron.

All of the Motherboards I have been looking at have a Memory Standard of DDR2-800. Can I Use my RAM on these boards or do I need to just buy New RAM.

Seems a waist not to use what I have.

If I can use it ...will it make a big differance? or will it bottleneck my system? Also Can someone shed some light on what the numbers mean?

    Thanks

ddr2 667 will work fine. if it says memory standard is ddr2 800 then you can only use up to ddr2800 but you can use any slower speed ram that you want. there will not be any performance problems with it, but if this is going to be for a gaming computer then i would get ddr2 800.
