i have a xbox modded with a chip, i have splinter cell on the hard drive and can play it from the hard drive. i have dvdtoxbox and xbmc, no remote dvd, emulators etc... can i use this to soft mod a virgin unmodded xbox? can i somehow find linux on the hardmod xbox and transfer it to memory card? thanx for helping a noob.
You can take an exploit and ftp it to the correct folder on your xbox. Then go into the ms dash and transfer it to your memory card. Then put the memory card in the other unmodded xbox and copy the save to the hard drive. This way you get around needing action replay. You can't do anything with the game on the hard drive though. You need an original to launch the exploit on the unmodded xbox. I hope this answered your questions. Here's a couple links to help you out. without the original sc game, do not bother with the game exploit (=gamesave). you will not get it to work from a copy as is mentioned earlier. btw. you can download the game exploit almost anywhere! (google is your friend) but, look at the following posts: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/717014 from the first post on from 'sergiovv' there is another option for you if you have a modded xbox at your disposal if you hotswap (look for the tutorial here on the forum) the virgin's xbox's hdd and either use the hdm tutorial (with your pc) or the slayer's disc (with your other modded xbox) or maybe the chimp tutorial (also with your other modded xbox) (see tutorial in above link) then you can softmod your virgin box without having to buy the game. use the tutorials with caution!
Wow... do i really have to quote myself? You better read through those links or give up on softmodding and asking the same questions, I'll clarify this once more. To softmod we use a game save file from one of the 3 most popular games. The save file is actually a hack, so the game will reconize the file and boot the unsigned code. From there we can run the installer and actually modify the contents of the hard drive. The save is called an exploit, the link i left you "softmod installer deluxe" is the exploit. Read through "how to softmod" because i'm not going to answer the same questions for the 3rd time...
ok i have downloaded sid4 and ftp it to my hard mod box. i can see the files on the hard drive but connot transfer the files to the ms dash which i need to do to copy the files to the memory card. any ideas anyone?
really not sure why you want to copy the softmod files to your hardmodded xbox's harddrive? you need to copy those files to your memorycard. put the memory card into you controller, put the stuff into your hard modded xbox. open ftp, the memorycard in the controller should have the drive x,y or z (it is a high letter in the alphabet). and then ftp the files from your computer onto the memory card. then take the controller and memorycard out, and put it into your virgin xbox. then you can copy over the files in the ms dash. but! you need one of the 3 original games, read the how to softmod tutorial. even the biggest idiot can softmod with this tutorial, it doesn't get clearer then that. c4fn1 replied with the link to you 2 times already. and no, without the original games you cannot softmod. you cannot use a copy, you need an original one. only solution if you cannot get an original one, is to hotswap. use the search button for the tutorials, or look at some of c4rn1's answers. he has send the link like a million times to even more people in reply to this question
i conected to computor with flashfxp but only able to see f drive? even with controller connected and memory card installed. i thought i could put files onto hard mod box's hdd then copy to memory card that way but no luck
mmmmmmm... you've got a weird xbox. have you tried other ftp programs (i use cuteftp, best program for me)? you can always try the file explorer program within your xbox. in avalaunch or xbmc you can go to file explorer and copy files from you harddrive (c, e, f drive) to anywhere (c, e, f, z,y,z). so, maybe i was a little bit premature with my earlier reply. you can copy the files to your hardmodded xbox. then open xbmc (maybe avalaunch will also work, but i'm not sure of the memorycard is assigned a drive letter in avalaunch), and copy the files from your hard drive to your memorycard (will be x,y or z). but within that dashboard you must have access to the other parts of your harddrive. i mean, if the f drive is also the only drive that is accessible in your dashboard, than off course it will not work. you should also have access to the c, e drive. and if you put a memory card in your controller, x, y or z must be accessible. good luck
i have used a friends hard moded box to get the exploits on to a memory card and have succsesfully soft modded 2 further virgin boxes. thanx to those that helped and also to those that suggestted i give up as it made me more determind.
