i have Dish network and i only have one dish box.i really dont want to buy another one so i was wondering if can insert the cable wire to my computer and watch dish network channels on my computer.i have a video capture device..not sure which brand oranything..PLEASE HELP..also if there is no way i can do that...i would ONLY buy a box if it was around 50-60$..anyone want to sell me one or tell me where i can get one? thank you
This all depends on what you are actually trying to do. You can split the dish box output to the TV and PC and get the same channel on both if your capture card can pick up the output channel (usually chn 3 or 4). If you want to be able to get 2 different channels then you will need a PCI card added to you PC something like what is in this link. http://www.globalwholesalers.biz. However you need to make sure there is the proper software update for the card you buy to open it up for the sat channels. This is a problem at present time because of the latest encryption. You will need to do some searching and reading to make the proper choice. I have also seen extra Dish receivers for sell for around $50. but you will need to activate them and pay the extra monthly charge for the extra receiver if thats they way you want to go. Jerry The link works, then click on PCI cards.
i already have a tv tuner card installed..one for cable and one for fm..it came with my computer(gateway gt5018e)..isnt there a program to make it work cus i dont want to pa y 70 bux..
No, cable channels and sat channels are on different frequencies. The only way is with the splitter like I suggested in the first post, but you will be watching the same channel on the TV and PC. Jerry
oh okk..then i gues i have to buy a digital satellite card..i only want to spend like 50 bucks and want it to work..any recommendations?
I don't use any PCI cards but have heard good things about Twinhan products. Just do a Google for them and see if they have what you want in your price range. Jerry
