when i insert a dvd+rw into my drive and go into my computer and right click the dvd+rw it comes up as a cdrw and it has 0 used space and 0 free space. HOWEVER when i look on the outside of my drive it has a rw picture and says 'DVD+ReWritable'.
So can i burn dvd+? (my laptop is a hp pavilion ze5700)

If on your drive it says DVD+Rewritable,so you're good to go,normally it should be ok.About that thing when you click on the DVD+RW and it says CDRW,i THINK there's nothing to be worried about,to be sure just try to burn something and see,it won't be a waste as you're using a DVD+RW and can be used again.

Edit:And yeah, the DVD+RW needs to be formatted(which is simple)before burning, then maybe your drive will be able to recognize it as DVD+RW and not CDRW.

Yes, it being recognised as CD is normal. I am thinking he might just need a firmware update.
