I reformatted my xp a couple days ago, but i cant install any sound driver because when i click the setup, it get this error "Error Installing iKernel.exe (0x10000)" before I even downloaded the driver, i needed to figure out which one i should download, so i found a post that told you how to figure out what type of sound card you have. They said to click on the system information button in the accessories folder in all programs. When i clicked on sound device in the system information window, there was nothing listed. It wasnt showing any sound card. Is that why this problem is happening?
While I'm not 100% certain I think that the sound doesn't show Because there is no driver installed for it. What machine are you running? You might be able to find out the card based on your machine. Or if you can't, if you're knowledgable enough, you could open your computer and take a look at the sound card itself.
Hey, so something kind of awkward happened. I got the driver installed (turns out all I needed to do was download the soundMAX driver and problem solved, hehe) but then my computer died. i got the blue screen, and it wont go out of it. If i reformat it, it will be like the 6th reformat this week, and i dont wanna go through the whole process again. so im just gunna throw this computer out. its about 7 years old, and its time i got a new one. thanks for the help though.
