Hi guys, I'm considering purchasing nero 8 but need to know if it can do what I'm looking for in a burning program. My new car will take mp3 discs but no other file format can it read. I can't seem to figure out if Nero 8 can convert my other file formats such as mp4, itunes etc. to mp3 so I can burn them onto discs to put in my car. Does anyone know if Nero 8 can do this? If not could you please recommend a program that can. Thanks!
I'd like to know the same thing. I want to have Nero convert my 320kbps mp3s to 128 before it burns them to a CD for my car (leaving originals intact), so I can fit more files on it (don't need any comments about sound quality) so I can fit more songs on each CD. I know WMP can do this too, but I've been having problems burning discs with Windows included software (Nero works fines, but Windows/WMP fails). To the original poster, if you can burn discs from within WMP, you can already do what you want, as long as WMP can read the source files, it can conver them all to MP3 or WMA at whatever bitrate you specify. In the meantime, I'm going to see if I can get to the bottom of why Windows does not like my brand new Sony DRX-840 External drive, but Nero 7 Essentials (included with the drive) does. The answer to this post will help me decide if I want to upgrade to Nero 8 Ultimate.
thanks for the heads up. It seems these forums are practically dead and not very active. I suggest you look for answers elsewhere. It's a real shame that nero does not have official forums.
Hrm I have jacked around with WMP for the past two hours and it turns out that you cannot use WMP to do what I need it to do. Yes it can convert them if I am ripping them to mp3 format. But I cannot tell WMP to burn my mp4 files and convert them to mp3 at the same time. I'm looking at winamp to see if it can do this right now. I'll let ya know how it goes.
Oh, I tried it again when I got home too with WMP. Turns out WMP will change them only to WMA for import. Good news, however, is my CD burned completely, despite WMP saying it did not. I changed the IMAPI service from manual to auto and it seemed to make it work a little better. I know JRiver Media Center will covert any non-DRM format to any other format you have an encoder for (uses LAME for MP3s), but it costs almost $40... It's an awesome program which I've used before, but - it doesn't run well on my current system.
have a little patience.yes nero has forums.its called my nero.i can take any audio file i have and burn it to mp3 with nero 8.
