I Have a BENQ DQ60. I have been told by just about everybody on anothe DVD CD Forum that this burner is...well.. not so good. Seems to be the chip set used. I can not seem to be able to burn a DL dvd. I am using verbatim DL media or ridata. The DVD gets to about 47% and then logs a read error. I assume that it might be trying at this point to write the second layer. I have the MRDC firmware. I believe that is the newest. Seems there is a lot of ppl that can burn DL DVDs an just as many that can not. Reminds me a little of when I got my first 2X CD BURNER and CD-R media was $1.25 ea , might have been more. Seems like burning did not get predictable till they came ot with better / faster burners. I digress, anyway The burner seems to burn DVD5 ok. The drive makes a clicking noise shortly after it gets the read error. Luckly I use qsuite to do a burn that does not write to the media...I used up 10 DL medias trying. By the way could you also tell me , I am a newbie and are there restrictions on my account ?

Have you tried DVD Decrypter, to burn the DL discs? That's all I use for DLs.
    It's a free download.
Here's instructions on how to use Decrypter, to burn DL discs, written by another member here.
    Good luck!

Well DVDBURNUP it sounds like it's time to contact the manufacturer for support and maybe get a replacement. From what your tried and been told on another forum it's sounds like this drive still has bugs that need to be fixed. Sorry can't be of more help.
If you do contact them post back the results.
    Good Luck!

I sure will. Frustrating to say the least. I have a " hit list " of numbers to call on monday. I will give everybody a chance and do it their way .... Usally hardware works. I can only rember one other instance in over 20 years of 'puting that hardware would not work.

If you think that is bad you should go to CD FREAKS and ask around about or read what is posted about the BENQ60. Unfortunately I did not find out till afterwards.
