Hi i don't know if this is the right forum to post this, sorry if it isn't. I have just reinstalled win xp pro because my computer kept getting stop and Blue Screen Of Death messages. After the installation was complete and when i logged into windows the computer would not connect to the internet. When i open Network Connections there's one icon there that says "1394 Connection, Connected, Firewalled". If i remember correctly there used to be 3 icons there. When i click on it and go to properties then internet protocol (TCp/IP) its set to obtain Ip and DNS address automatically. When i go to start, run, cmd, and type in ipconfig and hit enter it just says "Windows IP Configuration" the same when i type in ipconfig/all ipconfig/renew. Anyone know how to fix this problem and get me connected back to the internet? Im using a router i already restarted and unplugged it, but i still get the same thing.

Are you on wireless or Ethernet?

You may not have installed the drivers for an onboard Ethernet port, or incorrectly installed drivers for a wireless adapter.

Its ethernet. Well when i got to device manger under network adapters it says 1394 network adapter, then i click on driver, then i went to goole and did a search on that driver and it seems to be updated.

Are you still having this problem ? Sounds like Alex is right, you need to install the drivers for ethernet connection.
The 1394 is your firewire port - you are probably connecting with a RJ45 ethernet connector. Is the ethernet connection on the motherboard or an installed PCI card ?

    Hey Wjason777

When you reinstalled xp, all your drivers got reset. Now, you have to reinstall your wireless and network drivers by downloading them from your computer's manufacturer's website.

    Best Regards :D
