That is a heck of a last address to possibly write. Maybe the drive doesn't recognize the media. Perhaps a firmware update is needed--, or maybe a problem with the driver for the device, or bad media. You show a Port 3--do you know if the drive is connected to the secondary IDE channel or something else?
Looks like your drive is a rebadged (i.e. IOMagic) BenQ DW1655 drive with OEM firmware. ok, I updated the firmware... still had a problem with the burning and this is the new log file... I am re-installing the more stable version of Nero now and will try that on for size and will be checking back in the mean time... Thanks alot everyone for your help. Hi, By the way what media are you using..saltgrass pointed this out earlier and I see in the log just posted the same thing appears. Usually if your drive recognizes the media then it would show in your log. If possible I suggest changing your media to verbatims, sony (made in Japan) found in most local retail stores. That is burning too close to the edge of the disk, set your target output to 4300mb using nero recode then burn. Also by chance is this file already on your hard drive or are you trying to copy directly from a dvd.
I am using Playo DVD's purchased at Staples. I have used them before with plenty of success. Maybe I should go buy a case of Fuji's and see what happens? When I am copying the dvd I leave the option to copy it to the hard drive first then onto the DVD.
Never heard of that brand. If you choose to get fuji I recommend the ones made in Japan NOT Taiwan. Also verbatims may be a tad higher but are known for quality.
The funniest part is that when I use DVD X Copy to make the first reduced copy... it goes through fine without any problems. Only when I use Nero... wtf..
May be that DVD X Copy is not trying to read the media ID. Nero is and that's why you see the KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR
After you have used the cleantool, rebooted and installed the last known stable version of nero then see if the problem still exists. Without getting too technical dvd xcopy relies more on the files on the media and not the id code as waynekusa stated. More to it but shouldn't be an issue once you update nero. As far as the media that has worked before all we can do is make recommendations, the choice to change your media is up to you.
