    Hi,

I have a PAL VHS video and I'd like to capture it to my Mac. The problem is, my JVC mini dv and S-VHS player is an NTSC system. So, can I just copy it straight to mini dv using my video deck and then capture without converting it to PAL, or do I have to convert it to Pal first then copy it to mini dv?

    Thank you

    Hi..
I think you mean: Can you copy it in PAL format? Or do you have to convert to NTSC? How does it look when you play it back on your NTSC VCR? If it looks okay, then just use your JVCminiDV and cap it. If you can play it back in PAL (25fps) and capture in PAL, that would be the best way of course.

That would be best. If you capture a PAL source into NTSC, the FPS will be mismatched and the video might blur on frames that have motion. If that isn't too much of a concern, give it a try. Hell, give it a try anyway. I'll bet it looks okay.
