this is what i have: abit an7 athlon 2800xp (Barton) xms corsair pc 3200 (1 gig stick) agp radeon X800XL 256 i was wondering if someone might help me get all that i can out of the hardware that i have (im not too good with the BIOS settings...stuff). i like to play online games and it sure seems my FPS aren't what they could be. thanks in advance !
Make sure you have the correct mobo & graphics card drivers installed, when you installed the graphics card driver did you unistall the previous driver before installing the new one ....try setting your AGP aperture size to 128 this is done through the bios menu, just refer to your mobo manual to find out how to do this, what online games are you playing
You also have the option of clocking your gfx card, i would browse around the net for enhanced drivers such as the omega drivers. If you use PcMark then you can test the drivers and see what gives the best performance for your setup.
i haven't flashed the BIOS, i was going to but directions say to make a bootable floppy...i didnt have a floppy drive that would work (one i have is OLD and has different connection) and i wasnt sure if using Nero and making a bootable cd would work or not? anyone know? i had drivers for graphic card and MB on disk, i'll check their websites to see if there are updates. i did have another graphic card installed and dont know if i remembered to use the unistall utility or not...probably a driver update so ill go ahead and use it and then update think i set the AGP aperture to 256...should this be set to 128? thanks
right now i am hooked on count strike source and then there's my wife thats hooked on halo (not sure why...wish halo 2 would come out on pc so i wouldnt have to look at it anymore) i updated (unistall utility first) my graphics drivers and my mobo drivers...im gonna go see if that helped any anyone know know if i can flash BIOS using a bootable CD instead of a bootable floppy? thanks
Nope if it says floppy then you need a floppy unless you can find drivers for a bootable cd. www.newegg.com they have external enclosures there for less than 30 bucks that you can put your floppy in and then hook it to your pc via usb cable.
Does your Abit mobo driver disc have the Abit bios flashmenu utility where you can update the bios via the internet whilst in windows ....
