With all due respect, of course I read the whole thread before posting, which is what I always do. I was trying to suggest that anyone who does not have a lot of experience with PS2's running Hard Drives with games on it, should not jump to the "big fish", as it were. For this user, the easiest method would be to use HDLoader.
It is simply impractical to unplug the harddrive from the PS2, and open the casing of your PC to install games to the hard drive, it is a lot easier to just leave your harddrive permanenetly in your ps2, and just using hdloader, but if your experienced, of course, other methods could be used too

you do know hdloader/hdadvanced doesn't load all games, right? it'll either fail to load, or just freeze during installation. ripping with imgburn and loading with winhiip bypasses that, and they still run perfectly on hdloader/hdadvanced. so why wait and see if the game does load, if there's already a better and faster way?

im sorry, i dont think youve read my entire post. for unexperienced users, the best alternative is to use hdl/hda
and THIS site will explain if a game works or not with hdloader of hdadvance

    anthony10, i appreciate your reply
To be honest, the only place you'd easily find a "pressed hdloader/advance disc is on the internet", and as they are considered illegal, they wont be on eBay
Ill have a look around, try searching them on froogle.com, or google products, always buy from a trusted site, if i see a cheap, releiable one, ill post a link here

as a junior member, you should know not to double post.

absolute anime has a bigger hdloader compatability list. and is more organized. LINK

if you have multiple games, imgburn and winhiip is the best. not only is it faster, but it saves the laser on the ps2. one or two games may be fine on hdloader/hdadvanced, but you're still running the risk of it not installing properly.

in no way is it impractical to remove the hdd from the ps2. you should be cleaning the the system of dust at least once a month, just like a computer, if you want the system to run strong. i'm the original owner of my v7, and it has never DRE on me. that's what regular cleanings do.

Just thought I would add that this is incorrect. Regardless of what method you use to get the game on the HDD, if its not going to work its not going to work at all. Unless of course you are referring to DVD9 games which HDloader doesnt like all that much, but even then it is easily fixed and only applies to something like 6 games total.

If you've ordered the HdAdvance pressed disc or what not, then most of the trouble is taken care of. You're gonna want to make an ExecFTPs iso according to these instructions here and eventually reading at "Setting Up the Exploit with Retail HDL Software." You'll need a few more freeware programs that I can provide links for you through PM to get the exploit to fully work. The retail hdadvance disc will allow you to load the iso and thus an FTP server on your PS2 which allows direct access to the memory card (You're gonna love the Independence Exploit and uLaunchelf when you get it running) if you WinHiip the iso. I can help you out - I remember when I tried to figure this out on my own way back in the day and can empathize.

Edit: I wonder if the OP is still checking this thread?
