Can someone tell me what interoperability is and give me some examples please. On this license agreement it said something about it and I didn't understand what it meant.

    Thanks

Interoperability means different things to different companies.

At the company I work at (hardware manufacturer) we differentiate between compatibility and interoperability

Compatible - conforms to general specifications required to work with other devices but may have not gone through a complete testing battery.

Interoperable - Conforms to the general specifications required to work with the other device and explicit testing has been done between the devices at a specified level of hardware/firmware/software such that interoperability has been proven known working within the specified set of parameters.

    In short, for us:

Compatibility - should work but not necessarily guaranteed

Interoperability - tested and guaranteed to work within known tested environments.

I don't know if this makes it more or less clear.

An example of the statement you're concerned about might help.
