Hi, I use winavi to convert AVIs to DVD-formats, but there's something strange...
I have a file of 91 minutes and is 700 mb big, and when I convert it its 2,5 gig in dvd-format.
Now I have this other file that is 21 minutes and 132 mb big and when I convert it its 1,1 gig in dvd-format.

Somehow I find this rather strange and unlogic so I wonder can that 1,1 gig size be lowered in any way?

    There's nothing strange about it.
Avi's are highly compressed. MPG's are not.
If you want a smaller mpg, reduce the bitrate during conversion (thus losing quality).

And remember: DivX and Xvid compression is much better than MPEG-2. Tharefore, a 700 kbps DivX file is much better than a 700 kbps MPEG-2 file.
Your final aim is to fully fit an approx 120' movie into a 4.7 DVD-R, isn't it? So, just use a bitrate calculator.
