    Hey,
sorry just got my dvd burner and I'm a little new to this stuff. However, is there any way that you can make a DVD VCD? what I mean is keep the movies in .mpeg format like you would on a VCD, but store it on a DVD and play it on a DVD player? I'm just wondering cause converting the DVD format takes up too much space then I would like. I can barely get an hour of video on a 4.7 gig DVD. Thanks

You can make a DVD that's 352x240 (that's NTSC; it's 352x288 for PAL) pixels, a.k.a. Quarter D1 resolution. But your source material still has to be reencoded to MPEG-2; VCD uses MPEG-1. On Nero (and many other programs) set the quality to "Extra Long Play".

The quality, in most cases, however, is terrible compared to DVD. However, the output won't be better than the input so if it's already VCD-like quality, it won't hurt to use EP mode.
