Can u burn mpeg files to dvd or u have to convert first

I have avi movies i know that i have to convert them before i can use nero to burn them but if i have mpeg-1 movies do i still have to convert them to burn them or i can just use nero and burn it one time?

 

You can burn them but they won't play on anything but your computer. If you want to watch them with a DVD player they need to be in a compliant format the player understands.
This usually means running them through something like NeroVision. This adds the required navigation info and creates a compliant file structure.
