Can u switch xbox 360 dvd drives from other xbox 360's?

    i mean can i take a 360 drive from one and swap it in mine? cause i tried this but the dvd drive that i swap never plays games it only says play dvd yet the dvd drive plays games when its connected to the original motherboard? doesnt make sense?
