I have many VCR tapes that I want to transfer to DVDs. Right now I have a VCR/DVD dual deck machine that does the job but it only dubbs in real time. Can anyone tell me if I can purchase a machine (preferably under $1000.00 CAD) that will offer high speed dubbing. I was hoping to transfer a 6hr VCR tape to a DVD in an hour or two. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I doubt it. There are VHS to VHS high speed dubbing machines, but not for VHS to DVD. The stand alone unit has to process, compress, and burn the video data all at once, so real time is all it can do. I would also suspect that the quality wouldn't be as good when doing a high speed dub.

Thank you for your reply djscoop. I have since learned that unless I want to spend a lot of money and not have great quality I am going to have to do the dubbing in real time. Thanks again for the reply
