I think I've cooked my CD/DVD writer on my laptop. The writer is a Toshiba SD-R6112 IDE. There are many models available and wondered if anyone can recommend a decent one as a replacement. The write failures are becoming more frequent and now it's reluctant to read CD's too. My laptop uses an Athlon XP running XP home.
I'm not a memorex fan I have the Lite-on and the NEC both are great and very user friendly and priced right.http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/article/0,aid,118521,00.asp
There are many here who like Plextors & Pioneers. Personally I have 2 108s, but I want to buy another & get a plextor ROM for the reading. Plextor does have a good rep on this site, as does the pioneer. I don't think that you would go wrong with either!
