Hello,I'm interested in finding out if you can run internet explorer or any other internet browser through your tv???.I know the PS3 and Wii both have internet programs but I'm not really into gaming and feel it would be a waste just to get access to the web via my t.v.Ideally I'd like to be able to browse the web and plug a key board, mouse into my tv so I can type in web addresses without having to set up either my laptop or desktop pc. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Kind Regards

If you have a laptop, you could connect that to your TV. Otherwise, I think you can get something for your TV to connect to the internet, but you'd probably need a wireless connection in your house. Do you have one?

Buy an old working xbox.. $30? and softmod it (free often) Install xebian linux and a keyboard and mouse.. xbox ports are standard usb input ports so it's up to you how you connect them. I use mine like this sometimes, though the screen res isn't that great.

Nathan.. You have no connectivity past your router/modem.

open a root terminal and type

    ifconfig eth0

and see if there are any numbers assigned.

If there is nothing there, and you are running a DHCP enabled router then:-

    ifconfig eth0 auto up

etc/init.d/networking restart ..(may be "network restart" depending on xebian version)

    and try firefox again..

If you are connecting direct to a modem this should also work, but if your lan is using static ip's things will need setting up properly.

post back with details from ifconfig eth0

As xebian is actually debian here is the debian network reference docs page. http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/reference/ch-gateway.en.html
