sounds strange i know i've just been given a film that is only 1.5gb on the disc quality seems ok i use dvd shrink and decrypter and as you know it automaticaly compresses to the right size if the file is to big.will it work the other way round if it is a small file like i have is there (i) any way to make the file bigger (ii)is there any advantage or disadvantage to doing this ie better or worse quality ? (iii) why would the film be compressed to this size in the first place (iv) is there any point should i just leave it alone many thanks wilki

you cant un-compress, you can change from say vob to avi or what ever, but you will make it worse, your better of just burning it as is.

Some movies with extras/credits/sub titles/sound removed will be quite small before compression (around 3gb iv seen)
