i have a dell inspirion 1501. i am trying to use backtrack 4 on it and i cant configure the wifi card. i have searched and read many forums for hours now. i have tried everything. as stated i have a dell inspirion 1501. i am a pc user and linux is new to me but i can get the hang of things if you explain things quickly. what i am trying to do is configure the on board wifi card for my laptop to get internet. i have tried using ndiswrapper and i keep getting errors every time most of the errors are saying invalid command. when using dos i know this usually means that their is a command file missing. if anyone can help me i would be very thank full. any info would be great even if you know definitively that the wifi card that is on board is incompatible. thanks for your time.

sometimes some broadcom based cards just aren't compatible. Especially when putting them into monitor mode.

You should maybe look into searching for compatible cards. I bought a cisco one off ebay for like 12 bucks.

    works perfect with backtrack
