Hi, everyone. I just joined today (7/30), so please let me know if I am not following procedures. Brief description of setup: Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 2 AMD Athalon 64 3500+ @ 2.21 GHz, 1.00 GB ram NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GS ATI TV Wonder Elite ATI Unified AVStream Driver, file version 6.14.10.173, Driver Date 6/6/2006 It doesn’t seem that the hardware is an issue, as I can configure and achieve desired results ** right up until pressing “Record” **, which is where the problem lies (see below). I should note that I am completely uninterested in using the TV tuner aspect of this card. I did not load the PowerCinema software. I bought the TV Wonder Elite card because the Theater 550 Pro video chip was supposed to be tremendous at hardware output of very clean MPEG-2 files. Sole purpose is to convert 100+ vhs tapes to DVD. Nero Software in use: Nero 7 Ultra (can’t find version number) Nero Vision 4 – version 4.5.0.24 Problem: cannot capture video Sequence of steps followed: - Open new project, click on Video Capture. Preview screen black with jumping static - Capture device is correctly identified as “ATI AVStream Analog Capture” - Select a capturing template is set to “DVD” - Click on “More”, check “enable capture device audio playback”, uncheck “Detect scenes while capturing (DV). - Click on Video Device Properties button at right edge of screen (audio icon underneath it is grayed out) - Video input has always set itself to “Tuner”. - Click Input Tab, change to Composite or S-Video (I really dislike that there is no Apply or OK button) - Return to main Capture Video page. Video is now showing in the preview, although there is no sound. However, Audio Properties icon is no longer grayed out. Click on Audio Properties icon. - Audio Source is always blank. Click on dropdown, select ATI AVStream Analog Capture Everything looks and sounds great! Click on the red “Record” button. Immediately returns to black screen with jumping static. Records somewhere between 50 to 80 frames of the black/static image (with no dropped frames, e.g. “57/0”) then auto saves the file. Back to square one. That’s what makes this so frustrating!!! So close, and yet unable to get any further! HELP!!!
So we can see which version of Nero7 you are using, open Nero StartSmart, go to Info Tools and locate your full version number.
That's quite a list! Here is all the Nero data. So, if needed in the future, do I refer to my version as 7.2.3.2? Thanks. Quite frankly I cannot recommend using this version, I would uninstall, run this clean tool http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html and then install this older more stable version, 7.0.8.2 from here http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?845 Versions 7.2.0.3/7.2.0.3b are also "buggy"
I don't have a capture card, so I can't help much, but make sure your video input is active when you try to capture. If there is a play button, make sure it has been checked before you try to record.
OK, I unistalled, ran the clean tool (which I don't think actually worked, as it kept saying "invalid directory selected"), and installed version 7.0.8.2. After installing, ran InfoTool again, and it agreed with the version number. Tried capturing again, and the exact same problem continues... I can get the video and audio running perfectly in the preview screen, but as soon as I click on the red record button it loses the capture and resets to tuner from either composite or s-video. Next steps? Thanks.
Howdy! I finally resolved my problem... I am no longer using Nero for video capture. The fix? SnappySoft from MonsoonMultiMedia.com. I downloaded a trial version (v1.1.17) from Download.com. It worked PERFECTLY after installing. I did not have to do * one * thing to configure. The program loaded, it automatically found my Theatre card, and EVEN KNEW that the last setup I had tried in Nero was for the S-Video input (since I had also tried composite). Pretty slick. And the best part? Only $19.95 ! Great quality capture, easy as pie. Couldn't be happier. Super highly recommend the software!
