    Hi there,
I tried to enable the TV output of my hp compaq nx9030. I tried to follow the user's manual, but no luck. In Display Properties -> Settings -> Advanced there should be a Display tab with TV specific buttons. However, there is no such tab on my laptop. I have General, Adapter, Monitor, Troubleshoot, Color Mgmt, and Intel Extreme... tabs only. (I do have Displays tab on my desktop computer, and it really has TV specific settings.)
I updated the display driver, but the Display tab is still missing.
    Now what can I do?

Did you have the s-video cable hooked from laptop to monitor when you went looking for display this should not make a diffrence but may be worth a try. Sounds like you have done the correct steps the fist thing I would have done would be upgrade video drivers. I think I would place a call in with HP aka Compaq for help good luck. One more thing see if you have a FN key on laptop look around F1 threw F12 and see it any of those keys say LCD/CRT.

    Thanks spacedust,
I tried it with connected cable as well, also rebooted this way. No change.
The fn f8 key should serve as monitor switching key, but since the laptop doesn't sense any external display, pressing this key does nothing.
Any other ideas? I would be very much surprised if the guys at hp's help desk could help in anything what's not in the written manual anyway.

If it is an Nvidia or ATI video driver maybe you can go directly to them to get updated driver. I took a peek at the manual for your laptop. Without having the Display tab your stuck in the mud. The book sure shows that option. I would still call there tech support!

    Good Luck
