I just softmodded my xbox with the evolutionx dashboard and I wanted to ftp to my xbox. I tried connecting a cat-5 cable from my laptops ethernet port to a hub. then taking another cat-5 cable and connect it to another port in the hub and then to the xbox. No luck. I tried changing my xboxs Ip and computers but I am having no luck with this at all. If anyone could help me that would be great! Im kinda new at this stuff!...

See I am in my room and the router is downstares. In my room I have a wireless bridge, and I have a hub. I tried to connect a cable from my xbox to the hub, then another cable from the hub to my laptop wich has a wireless card in it. But I am having no luck. So tomorrow I am going to try to take my xbox and laptop downstares and connect it through my router. If it works. I hope.

when i networked my xbox and pc i found the most important thing was the ip address the best thing to do is plug a rj45 into the xbox then that into a normal switch or a router and do the same with the pc once youve done that check to see if they both say there connected if they say they are the next step on the pc is to click start/run/cmd then type ipconfig this should bring up the ip address of the pc it should look like this Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
    (C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner>ipconfig

    Windows IP Configuration

    Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

    Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : gateway.2wire.net
    IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.23.4
    Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.34.4.1
    Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 176.6.77.1

now you know the ip of the pc boot up your xbox and change the ip to match IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.23.4 but on the last digit go up one so if its 5 change it to six save and exit then reboot the xbox now go back to the pc and start up whatever ftp browser you have i use craxtion 4 works perfect for me and connect to the xbox and all should be well if not let me know and i might be able to help hope thats helped see ya later.

what about the default gateway... should i change it so it matches my pc's default gateway or what? And how do you tell if they are both connected when you have all the cables plugged in? ( I have them in the hub like you said.)
