I was given New speakers for Christmas. I unplugged my old plug and play speakers and plugged in the new speakers. I cannot get the new speakers to work because they require a sound card which I do not have. I have tried plugging my old speakers which are plug-and-play and now they will not work. I'm sure that they are plugged in correctly they correspond with the green and pink color-coded system. I had a friend who is trying to help me get the new speakers I got for Christmas to work and I'm not sure if he changed something.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check the sound settings in the control panel. Thats the best advice i can give you. Otherwise spoil yourself with a decent sound card. you wont regret it.

If you have a green and pink connector, you have a sound card - that's where you plug your new speakers in. ALL speakers are plug and play. If neither set work when plugged into the green port on the PC (is it a laptop?) then check your volume settings in windows volume control, and make sure your sound card's still installed correctly in the device manager.
