I just got a sony 500ax, mainly for data backup, but I wanted a crack at backing up the 20 or so dvds I own. I have some generic dvd-r I bought off of ebay (here's a link http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=11163&item=3403543605&rd=1). I was able to successfully write an mp3 on one, but everytime I try dvd video it reaches 100%, then says cannot perform disc at once, and the writing fails. I'm using the latest nero along with veritas record now, with windows xp professional. I used smartripper, and dvddecrypter to rip all the ifo, bup and vob files, but so far no luck, and I've got about 10 coasters from trying different things, and there are no threads here that have really addressed this in depth. ANY help would be appreciated. Thanks everyone!
Oh, also, I've been able to write to maxell dvd-r, sony dvd+rw and ritek dvd+rw with no problems. But when using the generic media, when it doesn't give the the "can't perform disc-at-once" message, it says there isn't enough space on the dvd-r media, when backing up a movie (after shortening with dvd2one)
