I used this guide to make a full disc backup: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/255980
I used decryptor in ifo mode to rip the VTS_08 group. Ifoedit to re-map the pointers here, just as in the guide. Only thing is, the guide doesn't explicitly tell you to take the re-mapped 08 ifo's in the "New Folder" and replace the old ones in the main directory. Once I did that, shrink worked like a charm.
What does the asterick* next to cell2 (in chapter1,pcm1,VTS_08) mean? I left it unchecked.

This was a great help. I used DVD Decrypter (note: If you don't have the latest DVD Decrypter version, Madagascar has an automatic trigger that shuts DVDDecrypter down after it is identified. Get version 3.5.4.0)to decrypt the files.

Then I used VOBBlanker (that I just downloaded) and it went in and scrubbed the VOB files of the errant bits (all automatically) and then used DVDShrink to shrink and burn, using Nero. For those new to VOBBlanker, it is going to essentailly copy your decrypted files to another "target" folder.

So you are going to end up with a cloned folder, but the new folder will be "pollution free". Then you'll use DVDShrink (or other program of your choice) to compress and create burnable files.

Definitely an extra step involved, but it went smoothly and seemed to cure what [bold] was [/bold] a perplexing problem.

Coffeedog- you said you copied madagascar. I followed your steps and have all the programs you said u used. but no luck. QUESTION: I use dvddecrypter and it rips it to an iso file. but when i try to find that file with vobBlanker or DvD Shrink the file is missing. I suspect that these programs are looking for a Video TS/Audio TS. I am not really that smart when it comes to this. How can I rip Madagascar to a file that these programs can recognize? Any help is much appreciated!!!!

hello this is my first post so please bear with me. this is what i did to backup madacascar (movie only) first i rip the disk with dvd decrypter 3.5.4.0 click on main movie only and let it rip. after that if you have dvd2one take the file that decrypter made and open up dvd2one put it in the source file and make a new folder for destination after that click on next and take out what you dont need and let it run after that the folder that you just made you can burn it with your regular burning program

sorry one more thing , i forgot because its always running in the background, the latest version of slysoft anydvd was also used more than likely, so i used vob blanker with anydvd running to make the folders, then used dvdshrink to make the .iso, then burned to dvd

ok...on madagascar..i had to use dvd ghost to copy the files to my hard drive. Then i had to use nero recode to recode those files ..then used dvd shrink...perfect. I tried decrypter....anydvd....all a no go.

But this didnt work for stealth. I copied the movie in dvd ghost to my hard drive..but nero recode couldnt recode it all...i tried any dvd,but it only gave me 23 minuets of the movie-or something. So ,i ran dvd ghost...then ran "super dvd copy"..then used dvd shrink...came out perfect..the whole 2 hrs of movie. Even if super dvd copy might say error with about 20 seconds to go....i still used dvd shrink on the files..and voila..perfect.

I used AnyDVD with CloneDVD for this movie and had no problem. Also used AnyDVD with DVD Decrypter and then Nero Recode to compress and came out great.

I ahd the same problem the first time I tried I got the v08 error using dvd decrypter and then I checked to see what version of decrypter I was using and realized I haven't updated it.... Once I updated it and rebooted I had no problems at all with backing up madagascar!!!! Used DVD decrypter, dvd 2to1 and instant copy. Done in 19 minutes using instant copy to burn after I decrypted and compressed movie--- I am interested in knowing the burn times of other software that people use to burn like nero and etc..... I know burn time is relative to dvd writer spped of computer, ram etc but was just looking for a general consensus on the average burn time of this back up.............. any input would be great...... Now I think Im having a problem with stealth though...... lol

O.k., iam not sure how to copy just the main movie using DVDDecrypter. And when I do copy the movie with decrypter, I then try to find the file to put it through VobBlanker, and it cant be found. Can anyone give me step by step directions to copy madagascar with these programs: DvD Shrink, DvD Decrypter, VobBlanker, and DVD FabDecrypter. I could really use the help!!!! Thanks Again

EDDIECHI- Stealth is pretty basic to overcome. Here is what I did(after giving up on that DAMN Madagascar!!!:). I ripped Stealth with DVD Decrypter (main movie only) and then used DVD Shrink to Compress it and then used DVD Decrypter to burn. Good Luck, any questions Im here.

Thank you very much for the IFOs! They were most interesting. Here is, what I've found:

1.) "Madagascar" is copy protected with some sort of "bad sector" protection.
2.) The protection looks very different from what we have seen from Sony. I believe, that it is NOT Arccos!
3.) As "Madagascar" is a Universal release, and because Universal and Macrovision are - according to their press releases - "good friends", I believe that this is the very first confirmed DVD which contains.... (drumroll): MacroVision's "RipGuard"!!! (this is just a guess, of course)
The protection the whole community was soooo afraid of! The end of DVD duplication!
4.) I ran the ifos through our deprotection engine, and it found and removed the protection at the beginning of VTS_08_1.VOB.
5.) I have looked through the ifos, but I couldn't find anything else.

    My conclusion:
1.) Madagascar R1 (US) is protected with Macrovision "RipGuard". Finally we see a disc with this new protection!
2.) AnyDVD 5.5.3.1 and 5.5.4.1 (maybe even older versions) should identify the disc as "Arccos/Puppetlock" protected and should display the removal of (at least) 1 bad sector protection.
3.) I believe, that AnyDVD has cracked the new "RipGuard" before it was even released. But it might be possible, that there is something else on this disc, which I cannot spot when looking through the ifos. It is hard to find something, when you don't know what you are looking for.
I have ordered the DVD to try it out myself, but it can take a few weeks until I can tell you more. I will keep you informed.

Like I said on page 1, just follow JaguarGod's guide from beginning until the vob blanker part. You'll get an error in IFOedit that says "There's something wrong!" but just keep following the directions. After you run "Get VTS sectors" the 2nd time and then strip the streams, browse into the "New Folder" and cut everything and paste into the root folder, replacing all like-named files. Open shrink and re-author. My full-disc was a pain to make it play. I included a couple of the extras at the end since the movie isn't 4464 Mb. I couldn't find that penguin short. Anyone know which vts that is?

IN ORDER TO COPY MADAGASCAR YOU MUST OD THE FOLLOWING:

    1. BACKUP THE DVD COMPLETELY WITH DVDFAB (YOU MUST HAVE AT LEAST 8GB
    FREE ON YOUR HARD DRIVE.)

    2. OPEN THE FILES OF YOUR BACKUP WITH VOBBLANKER (YOU MUST HAVE AN
ADDITIONAL 8GB FREE ON THE HARDRIVE)

    3. OPEN AND SHRINK THE FILES WITH DVD SHRINK (YET AGAIN YOU MUST HAVE
AN ADDITIONAL 5GB FREE ON YOUR DRIVE)

    4. AFTER DVD SHRINK FINISHES (ABOUT 50 MINIUTES) YOU CAN DELETE THE
OTHER BACKUPS FROM DVDFAB AND VOBBLANKER. KEEP THE FOLDER CREATED
    BY DVD SHRINK.

    5. YOU OWN IT!!!! HOLLA AT YA BOY!!!!!

Can you use AnyDVD with DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter.

Or do you have to use Clone DVD.
