Just bought a Memorex External 20x DVD burner. I have been backing up my DVD's for a while and this is the first time I cannot burn an ISO file to the external drive, but I can burn it just fine to the internal SATA drive. I can however burn cd's to that drive. When attempting to burn the ISO file it stops at 3 percent usually during the lead-in. Here what I am using. Nero 8/Vista 64-bit and using DVDFAB. Even using another burning program same problem occurs. I first thought the drive was defective so I returned it, but same problem occurs with new drive. Kinda lost on this one...
Not much information to go on. There could be a number of reasons. Your external burner may not like the type of discs you're using. You may have a faulty or weak USB connection. You could be burning too fast. Try using good quality media and burn at 8X using ImgBurn. Then post the burn log. This log will provide some much needed information.
Let me try that lower speed. As for as USB speed its a fast 2.0 port. Using Verbatim disk. Thanks for replying and Ill try the lower speed..
I burn TY's 8X at 6X on my Liteon external. Never had a coaster with well over 500 burns on it. Started using my internal recently just to give the other one a break.
My internal 18X SATA drive burns maximum without a problem. Ill burn one tonite at 8x on the external and see what happens. Again thanks..
Well tried slower speeds and they dont work. Dont know what else to try. Have tried two different gurn programs. Where is the nero burn log located at..
