For some reason, my burner won't allow me to burn dvd's any faster then 4X's, when I used to be able to burn alot higher. Most of the time I burn at 8x's to 12x's the speed. any help?

Do you know what your drive is capable of? How fast can it read/write?

Maybe you have to update some drivers then. Get Version tracker Pro and install it. It will automatically scan for drivers and update them.

Update the firmware of your dvd-rw drive if there is a newer version.
Nerotools will tell you your current firmware version.

Make sure your DMA's are enabled (Transfer Mode)and not in Pio Mode. You want them at DMA/UDMA or either of those along with if available:

Nero can be flaky. If above doesn't help, locate Nero Cleantool 8. Uninstall nero, run cleantool8,and load nero onto the pc again.
