I recently installed nero 7 on my PC and tried to use it for the first time to burn some .avi files on to a dvd so a friend could watch them on his dvd player. However it wont let me do it. Do I need to convert the files to a compatible format (if so what software can i use) or is it a matter of installing the appropriate plugins in Nero (I did download the nero mega plugin but it doesn't seem to have made any difference) I'd be greatful if someone could give me idea of what I should do
Does it say anything in specific why it's not letting you burn it? Got an error log saved somewhere? ^^ I had the same problem too.. sort of. It couldn't burn cause of some transcoding issues since it was avi etc etc. Eventually I got tired of all the fuss after several days of tryign to get it to work, so I took the long way. Converted my avi files with WINaviVideo converter to a vob and let Nero actually burn it. ::shrugs:: takes some time, but it works. You probably won't have to do the same thing =p I'm sure someone else here might have a better solution if you give us a bit more specifics. Check out Alkohol's tutorial thing too. It should be stickied on the first page and all. ^_^
to kopper-if you are going to convert avi files to dvd the program that works for me is convertxtodvd. this program will convert and burn a avi file to dvd and once you set up the program it maintains your settings and the next tine you need to convert avi to dvd its two clicks of the mouse to start the process.
@kopper You can use Nero to make the .avi file to dvd format. Here is a great guide: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/9/272946
