I would recommend upgrading to the latest Nero 6, as you do have an old version. And make sure you have the latest firmware for your model recorder. The bottom line is the Recorder is not properly detecting the DVD media. Try more than one brand of DVD-R media, or DVD-RW media. But only after you upgrade our software and the firmeware on your recorder and you find you still have problems. Regards, Craig
