Hi. I have just been introduced to burning by a friend. He had me download dvd shrink as well as nero 6.6.0.16. I did this as well as went out and bought Sony DVD+R. When I begin the burning process everything seems to work until it actually begins to burn the dvd. This is the message that comes up: Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 10/26/2004 6:35:34 PM Nero API version: 6.6.0.16 Using interface version: 6.3.1.4 Installed in: C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\ Application: ahead\Nero - Burning Rom Internal Version: 6, 6, 0, 16b Recorder: <_NEC DVD+RW ND-2100AD> Version: 1.26 - HA 3 TA 0 - 6.6.0.16 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 3 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : ST3160021A atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : _NEC DVD+RW ND-2100AD atapi Port 3 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : SAMSUNG DVD-ROM SD-616E atapi Port 3 ID 1 DMA: On === CDRom-Device-Map === _NEC DVD+RW ND-2100AD L: CDRom0 SAMSUNG DVD-ROM SD-616E K: CDRom1 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 73400320 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 503MB (515372kB) Free physical memory: 192MB (197008kB) Memory in use : 61 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 15.9.2005 NeroAPI 7:00:22 PM #1 Phase 112 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 276 DVD-Video files reallocation started 7:00:22 PM #2 Phase 114 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 276 DVD-Video files reallocation completed (no file modified) 7:00:22 PM #3 Phase 111 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 276 DVD-Video files sorted 7:00:22 PM #4 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 127 Reader running 7:00:22 PM #5 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 122 Writer _NEC DVD+RW ND-2100AD running 7:00:22 PM #6 Text 0 File AudioCompilationImpl.cpp, Line 842 DRM: StartDrmRecording(RealRec:1, ImageRec:0, Copies:1) DRM: Beginning burn process. 7:00:22 PM #7 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3309 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 7:00:22 PM #8 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3309 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 7:00:22 PM #9 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3233 Turn on Disc-At-Once, using DVD media 7:00:23 PM #10 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 270 Last possible write address on media: 2295103 (510:01.28, 4482MB) Last address to be written: 2189775 (486:37.00, 4276MB) 7:00:23 PM #11 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 282 Write in overburning mode: NO 7:00:23 PM #12 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2483 Recorder: _NEC DVD+RW ND-2100AD, Media type: DVD+R 7:00:23 PM #13 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 448 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= 7:00:23 PM #14 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 838 Setup items (after recorder preparation) 0: TRM_DATA_MODE1 () 2 indices, index0 (150) not provided original disc pos #0 + 2189776 (2189776) = #2189776/486:37.1 relocatable, disc pos for caching/writing not required/ required, no patch infos -> TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048, config 0, wanted index0 0 blocks, length 2189776 blocks [_NEC DVD+RW ND-2100AD] -------------------------------------------------------------- 7:00:23 PM #15 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 1051 Prepare recorder [_NEC DVD+RW ND-2100AD] for write in CUE-sheet-DAO DAO infos: ========== MCN: "" TOCType: 0x00; I tried different burn speeds, getting up grades of the software, and even tried getting firmware upgrade but I don't think I actually did anything with that. If anyone can help explain what i need to do to get the programs to start burning that would be great. Thanks
9. I get a 'Power calibration error' or 'Calibration area (almost) full' error message. Why? Power Calibration is controlled by the recorder. Before any write operation, all recorders must do a 15 step power test to determine the optimum power for writing to the CD; this is called "Optimum Power Calibration"(OPC). During the write, it continues to do this test to get the best write throughout the whole CD; this is called "Running Optimum Power Calibration" (ROPC). This whole process is controlled by the recorder, though initiated by programs such as Nero. There is an area on the inner part of the CD for the test and test data info to be stored. You can use this area up to 999 times. If you receive the "Power calibration error" or "Power calibration area is (amost) full" error message, the cause will be either poor media, poor power, or a defective recorder. Please try the following solutions: * Update the firmware of your recorder. Please check the manufacturer's website for the latest version. * Try another brand of CD-R or CD-RW media. * Try different power connectors, and for recorders, do not share power with other devices. It needs its own power connector. If the error occurs with an external recorder, the power source in the chassis could be the cause. As a test, try to take the recorder out of the external chassis and connect it internal. * Try different configurations, such as taking the CD-ROM to the primary IDE bus as slave and have only the recorder connected to the secondary IDE bus as master. * Send the recorder in for service. this is from nero's site -http://www.nero.com/en/FAQs_Error_Messages.html#9 you might look here for fimware - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1793 quality media is a must, use verbatim, taiyo yuden peace
Ok so i went to the firmwear site that you suggested and i download this: "2100 @ 2500 1.06". When i tried to run it a message came up in DOS and then vanished. Below is the type of burner I have and the suggested packages that they offer. Which one should i use or am i already using the right one and don't know it. Also it says -R media. I am currently using +R, is that a problem. Can you burn dvds with -R? If anyone could help that would be great and thanks already for the suggestions. NEC ND-2100A Currently supplied as binaries suitable for flashing in DOS. The packages include original stock firmware, RPC1 with Rip Lock, and Rip Lock only. 103D, 104E, and 1.26. BETA TDB Windows Flasher. The packages include original stock firmware, RPC1 with Rip Lock, and Rip Lock only. 103D, 104E, and 1.26. 2100A to 2500A, Allows burning of -R media. Supplied as a binary. This is the 2500A 1.06 firmware patched to work on a 2100A, and includes RPC1 and Rip Lock patch. 2100 @ 2500 1.06 Suggest you use one of the newer 2500 or 2510 firmwares.
