Have you tried RipIt4Me, or VobBlanker? Did you try to rip it with AnyDVD?

This disc is an older one and shouldn't have any problems. Have you tried simply cleaning it? It could be scratched or dirty.

    @john5
The programs you used should handle this one. If cleaning it like Cinch suggested doesn't do it - try another drive if you have one - some are better than others at ripping.
If all that fails - time to exchange for a new one.
I think I used Shrink by it lonesome on this one.

the thing is that the dvd is a bit scratched, nothing deep, but there are a lot of tiny scratches, long story short its not a clean dvd, i got it from netflix. ummm yea i tried dvd shinrk, but tries to read it, and nothing. dvdfab tries it and says error 1496?? something like that. oh and anydvd says there is no dvd in D (my dvd-rom source)and what else. yea ill try ripit4me, yea ive been doing this for over a year, so im familiar with copying, ALSO i tried it with dvd decrpyt and it starts, but at VOB 1_3 and on it has a problem. i guess cuz its scratched, ANY way to clean the DVD??? besides rubbing alcohol. thanks

You bought it from Netflix right?
The errors you're getting from the different programs all point to a bad disc. You can try a soft cloth to try and buff it out some.
Another option if you haven't tried it is to try is rip in iso mode w/ decrypter - may work.

Yep you can still compress the iso w/ Shrink. In Shrink go to File>Open Disc Image and you're good from there.

Keep us posted on the outcome.

ok so i tried dvdcopy5, and nothing!! ahahah what happens is in step 1 i click the source and says that there is no dvd in that drive. "this location does not contain supported content. please try another location"
well that failed. <<looking at the dvd>> looks like new to me, small scratches. also, when its in the dvd drive, i look at it in my computer and says DIME NTSC. any clues on what that is???

The DIME_NTSC is just the volume name on this dvd. Mine shows the same way.
Sometimes they put some wacky names instead of the movie name. Like the last Star Wars had Charlotte.

Does the disc play in the PC? It sounds like it may be time to exchange this one.

Yeah you might want to delete/edit your post about the serial # bit.

If you have another pc w/ a burner try that one.

Here's one more program to try - you'll need AnyDVD running in the background. You can use the free version (all I use)
    http://www.isobuster.com/

Will rip to your hard drive - if it does get the whole thing then just open the files in shrink as usual.

lol - (the homemade movie bit)

Isobuster is great - only problem if the movie has copy protection & AnyDVD won't read the disc you're kinds sol on that program.

Can seem confusing at 1st just right click on the video_ts folder on the right and pick 'extract video_ts'. It will then prompt you to pick a folder to put it in.

Nope all out of ideas besides trying to buff out the disc. Even that may not help rip this one.
